In the heart of Amsterdam, we're gathering to bridge global innovation with local wisdom to co-create the next wave of social innovation. The Cosmolocal Playground transforms a historic institute in Amsterdam into a vibrant collaboration space where pioneers of the decentralized web meet local innovators to build practical solutions rooted in immediate need.
Our residency series brings together researchers, artists, builders, and organizers from both local and global spheres for intensive two-week collaborations. Each residency culminates in an Open Market weekend where outputs meet the public in a market-like environment, creating immediate feedback loops and real-world testing.
The residencies focus on Innovating the Commons, that is locating gaps in services provided by traditional institutions and developing novel products and solutions for organizing and funding the commons, utilizing decentralized and p2p technology.
The current space, known as the NFT Playground, has served the central Amsterdam community as a public good, providing an immersive environment for creators to gather, learn, and build together as community.
With two residency periods currently planned for Spring 2025, we're laying the groundwork for a permanent cosmolocal hub in Amsterdam while gathering insights to share with similar initiatives worldwide.
Intensive collaboration Residency focused on innovations in funding and organizing the commons, including capital formation, allocation, and novel forms of organization.

By bringing together global innovators and the local Amsterdam community, we aim to create pathways for sustainable cultural production that resonate both locally and globally.
